NIKATHY
We left the comm room behind and though I carried her, I was worried. Mostly, I sensed that she missed her independence, and I was afraid she would grow tired of being swept off her feet if I wasn't careful.
Still, I caught myself glancing down at her over and over, stealing glimpses of her determined face and stubborn perseverance. If she noticed me watching her, she said nothing. And then we were approaching the gardens, and my steps slowed almost without me realizing I was the one doing it.
"What is it?" she asked, worried. "Is something wrong?"
I had stopped in the middle of the corridor. I knew what I wanted to say, but I didn't know how to say it, or what she might say in response. But I looked up from the lush carpets to the audaciously papered walls, and I remembered who I was, and I knew I had to have her.
"I don't want you sleeping in there alone," I explained softly, flexing my arms so I could feel her body pressing into mine harder. "If anything happens, I want you close."
There was more to it than that, but I didn't have to explain, because the look in her eyes told me that she understood. She turned slowly and leaned into me, raising her chin just enough so that I could kiss her again where we stood.
"I want you close, too."
Her voice came out as a purr that sent tremors all through my body, raising goosebumps on my skin. I tried to ignore the blood rushing to my groin as I adjusted my arms around her, relishing her soft sighs as I kissed down her neck, brushing her hair aside.
"Come with me."
I walked a little way down the hall and pushed open a door, locking it behind us. Despite everything that had happened, the linens were untouched and a romantic glow filtered into the room from the windows.
I placed Rhiannon on the edge of the bed, and her eyes roamed with polite curiosity. She looked so small and fragile as she sank into the soft mattress among the mound of pillows. But that didn't deter me at all. I wanted her so badly. I stood over her a moment later, peering down at her body and her soft lips, knowing that the only way to quench my thirst was to have her.
Wordlessly, she laid back across the bedspread, leaving her legs hanging off the bed at the knees, and looked up at me innocently, cocking her head to one side and draping her arms over her head so that she looked completely relaxed.
"What are you thinking?" she asked shyly, her eyelashes fluttering and her cheeks blushing an almost imperceptible pink.
I faltered. "I- I think you're beautiful," I answered after some time.
The long lines of her body were tantalizing to me. Looking down at her, I could see the alluring way her hips curved into the hourglass of her waist and flowed out to her breasts. The crease that formed where her legs met tempted me.
